Okay guys, so the idea of this thread is for you to put you're name forward for a time slot for one of the two days. You can not play both days that week, unless you're a vip or admin member, or have the permission of an admin team member. The days that this event will happen each week will be Tuesday and Saturday during the evenings.
The ustream session each Tuesday is classed as Anything Goes, therefore feel free to mix whatever the hell you like!
The ustream session each Saturday is classed as Genre Night, therefore you must stick to the set genre for that week, for example one week it may be DNB night, then the next Electro etc etc, this way it chops it up a bit so it's not the same old same old.
The specific genre for the Saturday will be announced each Sunday, to give you almost a full week to prepare!
Set times can vary from 55 minutes to 30 minutes depending on how well this thing goes, but at this moment in time it shall be 55 minutes.

RULES FOR EACH SET

• On a Tuesday, play what the hell you like, Saturdays - stick to the set genre
• You shall play as long as you like, as long as it's within the 55 minute schedule, you shall not 'encore' past this allotted time as it's unfair on the other DJ's, however you can play 30 minutes of the 55 if you wish, as long as you notify steveeeh.
• You will be given the Ustream password at least 30 minutes before you're set, you are expected to be ready for you're set time.
• You shall log out once you're 55 minute set is over, e.g 7:55pm to allow 5 minutes set up for the next user, and to allow them to log in.
• If for whatever reason you speak over you're mixes, that's totally fine!
• Last but not least, have fun

This Ustream event will officially start Tuesday 4th September, due to myself being at a festival next week
Therefore, this gives you all a full week to get you're names in on the list to play, and prepare you're sets etc.
Simply post below which day and timeslot you'd like to play and I'll add it to the list!

If we don't know how to live dj. Where can we learn? Do we need equipment? I'd love to dj for this some nights but I don't know the tech part of it.

There's free software on google I'm sure where you don't need controllers or anything, even the 'noob' members who just play tracks one after the other are free to play

Would it just be audio, or video as well? It'd be cool if we could see the DJs mixing live, or at least entertaining us while they press play if they go the non-supertechnical-controllerist route.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and assume live pa/electronic music performance is okay? Like, as long as it fits the criteria, one could do an all-original set with a performance setup?

Yeah, you can download something which allows you to set your input as output, so whatever is being played through your speakers gets sent to the output. For instance on my mac the thing is called soundflower, I'm not sure what the windows alternative is but there'll be one.

Pretty much anything goes, I think the live set ups would be better suited to the Tuesday sets as they are anything goes, unless you play a certain genre that would be similar to the saturday sets.

It's entirely up to the member who's playing at the time whether they want to or not. Not everyone will have cams and stuff so..

Anyone know of any (free) software for streaming your desktop/screen/stuff? Might be neat if we could (for example) stream video of what we're doing in Ableton/Traktor/whatever as well as the audio.

Also, would we be able to try streaming (just briefly) before the set dates, to check things work/fix any problems that come up.

Yeah of course, probably a good idea to make sure everyone can connect with no issues etc. If you're windows based you can download manycam to stream your desktop as a webcam.

) and have been fiddling around with Ustream this morning.

Unfortunately my 16:10 screen gets cropped very slightly, but other than that everything seems to be working- I can get audio and video of Ableton up on Ustream fairly easily.
